Exploring Reddit as a Community Platform for Saskatchewan’s Arts & Culture Sector
The rapidly changing landscape of social media has presented new challenges for arts and cultural organizations in Saskatchewan. With Meta’s restrictions on news content, declining organic reach, and growing concerns about platform ethics, many organizations seek alternative ways to engage with their audiences, share event information, and foster community discussion.
During our recent community conversation on social media challenges, we heard interest in exploring Reddit as a potential platform for Saskatchewan’s arts and culture community. Reddit offers a decentralized, discussion-based environment that prioritizes community engagement and shared knowledge—elements that could serve as valuable tools for promoting arts events, exchanging ideas, and fostering collaboration in our sector.
We are conducting a mini feasibility study to understand better whether a Saskatchewan-focused arts and culture subreddit would be valuable and sustainable. Your input will help us assess:
