2012 ARTS CONGRESS: MATTERS OF ENGAGEMENT
Plan on attending the 2012 Arts Congress, to be held on May 4th and 5th at the Artesian in Regina. This year the Congress theme is “Matters of Engagement”, a topic of arts literacy and public engagement.
We are thrilled to announce the Congress keynote speakers: internationally acclaimed modern dance artist and choreographer Margie Gillis, cultural journalist Robert Enright, as well as visual artist, curator, writer and performer, Neal McLeod. Dr. Vianne Timmons, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Regina will be featured in a Conversation on the Valuing of the Arts in the Community, and Saskatchewan Poet Laureate Don Kerr, and former SAA board member, will give a reading.
Be sure to watch for upcoming Congress news on our website or Facebook
SAA WELCOMES NEW COMMUNICATIONS – OUTREACH OFFICER
SAA is pleased to welcome Jessica Riess to the position of Communications – Outreach Officer. Jessica comes to us from the Saskatchewan Organization for Heritage Languages (SOHL) where she worked as their Project Coordinator. She is a practicing new media artist based in Regina. You can reach Jessica at outreach@artsalliance.sk.ca or 306.780.9820.
ARTS QUOTE BRAINSTORM!
There is still time to join our Arts Quote Brainstorm! on Facebook. Share a favourite quotation about the arts and artists. Tell us a little about why it sticks with you, if you like. Chances are if you find it compelling, others will too.
The brainstorm runs until the first day of spring, March 20. Your contributions will become part of our new website, now in its planning stage. We look forward to being inspired by a province-wide flurry of memorable phrases, so spread the word and join the brainstorm! If you aren’t on Facebook, you can send your quotes to info@artsalliance.sk.ca.
