SSHRC AWARDS $200,000 FOR SASKATCHEWAN ARTS RESEARCH
The Saskatchewan Partnership for Arts Research (SPAR) is pleased to announce the receipt of a $200,000 Partnership Development grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada for a three year study entitled, Understanding the Arts Ecology of Saskatchewan. Formally announced in March, SPAR was formed by four partners: the Saskatchewan Arts Alliance, Saskatchewan Arts Board, SaskCulture and the University of Regina. GALLAGHER REPLACES YOUNG AS DEPUTY MINISTER OF PARKS, CULTURE AND SPORT
On June 25th, Deputy Minister to the Premier Doug Moen today announced some changes in the leadership of the Saskatchewan Public Service. Lin Gallagher replaces Wynne Young as the Deputy Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport. Young has been reassigned to the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy. FIRST BOARD MEMBERS OF CREATIVE SASKATCHEWAN ANNOUNCED
The first six board members of Creative Saskatchewan have been appointed. Mike MacNaughton from Regina is the Chairperson. The other board members include: Jocelyne Wasacase-Merasty, Meadow Lake; Cory Furman, Regina; Valerie Creighton, Stoughton; Rick Peddle, Saskatoon; and Jocelyne Kost, Saskatoon. Five additional board members will be appointed as soon as possible from a list of nominees provided by the creative industries.

Summer is upon us and MLAs are back in their home ridings. This is the perfect opportunity to speak up for the arts with your MLA. Talk about the importance of the arts to you, your family and the quality of life in Saskatchewan. You might find this information on how the arts impacts community helpful: The Arts and Our Quality of Life, The Numbers Tell the Story.
CALL TO MEMBERS: SASKATCHEWAN ARTS ALLIANCE PROMOTES MEMBERS
The new SAA website is finished and we are asking our member organizations to send images of their upcoming or recently past events. The selected images will be showcased on our home page with a brief caption describing the event and organization.
ONE YEAR COMPLEMENTARY SAA MEMBERSHIPS TO GRADUATING ARTS STUDENTS
The SAA is offering free one year Associate Memberships to recent arts graduates. For more details or to become a member please fill out a membership form and forward it the SAA office.

The Saskatchewan Arts Alliance is a non-profit coalition of arts organizations provides a collective voice for the arts in Saskatchewan. Established in 1984, SAA advocates on issues such as public funding of the arts, freedom of expression and artists’ working conditions.
