Save the Date: 2016 Arts Congress
Join us for the 2016 Arts Congress to be held in Regina at the Artesian on May 6th & 7th. We are excited to announce speakers John Holden, cultural expert from the UK who has written extensively on the value of culture and its relationship to society; and Simon Brault, Director and CEO of the Canada Council for the Arts. The Centre on Governance Releases 2015-2016 Budget Analyses Report
The Centre on Governance is pleased to announce the completion and publication of the second edition of provincial and territorial budgets analyses from the perspective of arts, culture, and heritage entitled “In Search of the Creative Economy – the 2015-2016 edition of our analyses of provincial and territorial budgets from the perspective of arts, culture and heritage”, co-authored by M. Sharon Jeannotte, Senior Fellow at the Centre on Governance, and Alain Pineau, former Executive Director of the Canadian Conference of the Arts. Saskatchewan Arts Board Releases Summary of Recent Consultations
The Saskatchewan Arts Board is undertaking a review of its Professional Arts Organizations Program (PAOP). The process began with community meetings in Regina and Saskatoon the week of November 30 through December 3, 2015. Arts organizations in the province were invited to attend and there were a total of nine consultation meetings with more than 60 arts organizations. The document presents a summary of what the Arts Board heard during the consultation meetings: What We Heard: Professional Arts Organizations Program Community Consultation Meetings.
Next steps in this process include the opening of an online survey portal in late January to give people a chance to respond to the above document, during March, staff will consider the feedback and make any necessary changes to the PAOP program, and during the spring, the SAB will engage in further types of public consultation in order to receive direct feedback on possible program directions.
Their goal is to have completed all consultations prior to the summer, so that the final version of the program guidelines and application form can be available in September 2016, well in advance of the next multi-year application deadline in January 2017.
Canada Council for the Arts Annual Public Meeting
Canada Council held its Annual Public Meeting 2016 on January 19th. A copy of the speeches by Pierre Lassonde, Chair, and Simon Brault, can be found here. In the coming week, people who follow the Canada Council on social media or are on its distribution list will be invited to participate in a survey about the strategic directions for the next five years. The meeting can be watched live stream.

Deadline Extended: International Studio & Curatorial Program
Creative Saskatchewan and the MacKenzie Art Gallery are pleased to announce that they will, for the second year in a row, partner to send a Saskatchewan visual arts professional to the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in Brooklyn, New York. Saskatchewan Arts Board Seeks Director of Administration

Event of Events Competition: Regina Hotel Association offers $20,000
The Regina Hotel Association (RHA) is offering $20,000 in prize money for individuals or organizations to help turn their dream event into reality. The Event of Events competition officially launched Monday in search of ideas for the next big event, festival or conference for Regina. Anyone person or group who wants to create a new event or turn their existing event into a bigger, annual marquee event in Regina are encouraged to enter the competition. Discipline Enhancements: The Art of Managing Your Career (TAMYC) – Third edition
Cultural Human Resources Council is pleased to release the third edition of its 8 TAMYC Discipline Enhancements. As part of a bigger project to develop a TAMYC Workshop for Aboriginal Artists, CHRC has engaged Aboriginal artists to revise the enhancements to include Aboriginal specific information, links and examples. The Discipline Enhancements can be purchased individually on CHRC’s website for $9.99 each.
