Sport, Culture and Recreation Branch Update
?The Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport has merged the Sport, Recreation and Stewardship Branch with the Cultural Planning and Development Branch to create the new Sport, Culture and Recreations Branch. This merger has been in development since 2017, and officially put into operation April 2018. For more information, click here.
Trudeau cabinet shuffle brings New Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism ?The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, announced changes to the Ministry and welcomed new members to Cabinet on July 18th. Pablo Rodriguez, formally the Chief Government Whip, is the new Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism. SAA welcomes the new minister and thanks Mélanie Joly who is now the Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie. Community Initiative Fund Community Grant Program Deadlines
The Community Initiatives Fund is delighted to announce that Saskatchewan communities will benefit from 363 grants totaling $3,942,580 from CIF’s February 1st and April 1st deadlines. CIF supports initiatives that enhance the quality of life and wellbeing of people living throughout Saskatchewan. Find out more here.
Call for Proposals for the Michele Sereda Artist Residency
The Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance (MAP), in collaboration with Kinesiology and Health Studies, is seeking an Indigenous artist to fill a 4-month residency, starting January 2019, to explore the integration of art, physical movement and health. This residency was established in memory of Michele Sereda who died in 2015. For more information.
Banff Centre | Arts & Leadership Programming
Celebrating its 85th anniversary this year, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity offers 100 programs annually for emerging to established artists, from self-directed and faculty-led residencies to hands-on practicum training and workshop-style programs. Artists can explore programs in Indigenous arts, literary arts, performing arts, and visual arts. As a champion of creativity, Banff Centre also offers Leadership and Indigenous Leadership programming to prepare and empower the next generation of leaders.
