This year’s provincial election is on Monday, April 4th. As part of our public awareness campaign, we sent questionnaires to the political parties asking about their plans for the arts and creative industry sector. Call to Action: Speak-Up This Election
A provincial election is everyone’s chance to meet with their candidates to talk about the importance of the arts and ask them pertinent questions regarding arts funding, access, and the sector’s sustainability.
Help us promote the importance of the arts by sharing the one-sheet –Speak Up This Election. Use the fact sheet and suggested questions to put the arts on the election agenda. The document can also be found on our website at www.saskartsalliance.ca. Please join us in this campaign to promote the arts.
Arts Sector Delighted by the Support for Arts & Culture in the 2016 Budget
The Canadian Arts Coalition (CAC) is extremely satisfied to see the government commit in the 2016 Federal Budget to the doubling of the Canada Council for the Arts operating budget by 2020. This represents $550 million in an overall $1.87 billion commitment to arts and culture over five years. For the last decade, the CAC has advocated for the doubling of the Canada Council’s operating budget. Budget 2016 achieves this goal and represents an important milestone for the arts sector and for Canadians. Read More.
2016 Arts Congress: Into the Future Wild
Join us at the 2016 Arts Congress: Into the Future Wild on May 6th and 7th as we celebrate 30 years of connecting artists, arts administrators, policymakers, and arts lovers. This year, the Congress takes place in Regina at the Artesian (2627 13th Avenue). Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the wilds of the Saskatchewan Arts Ecology.
The Michele Sereda Artist Residency for Socially–Engaged Practice
In 2015, the Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance at the University of Regina established an artist residency program in memory of Michele Sereda, an alumna and multidisciplinary artist who explored social issues that touched on intercultural dialogue, marginalized communities and art making. The residency aims to create engagements between artists, organizations, other University of Regina faculties and students around socially relevant issues.
