SASKATCHEWAN ARTS BOARD CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR BOARD MEMBERS

The Saskatchewan Arts Board is accepting nominations for its Board of Directors. Deadline for nominations is November 1, 2013 at 4:30 pm. Appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council for a two-year term, board members will have a substantial track record and proven leadership in the arts in Saskatchewan as a volunteer, artist, educator, businessperson, or administrator. Board members and employees of arts organizations regularly funded by the Arts Board are not eligible. Candidates may nominate themselves or be nominated by others. CANADA COUNCIL LAUNCHES NEW GRANT PROGRAM TO HELP ORGANIZATIONS MANAGE CHANGE

The Canada Council launched a new grant program, Leadership for Change: Grants for Organizational Development, which was developed from the review of the Flying Squad program. The next deadline is December 15, 2013. Program Guidelines.

The program includes 2 components:

Grants to collective or sectorial initiatives: for research or consultations that propose collaborative approaches and shared-learning activities (maximum amount: $20,000)

Grants to organizations: for individual consultations with specialists (maximum amount: $10,000).


ARTS 308: CANADIAN ARTS COALITION CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS

Calling all arts advocates! The Canadian Arts Coalition wants to talk to Members of Parliament in all 308 ridings and they need your help. You can get involved by meeting with your MP and/or sending them a message using social media.

The Canadian Arts Coalition is offering two training webinars for advocates who would like to get involved with Arts 308, an English Training Webinar on Monday, November 4th at 1:00 pm EST (Register Now) and a French Training Webinar on Tuesday, November 5th (Register Now) at the same time.

The Arts Coalition is also working on a package of documents to use in the meetings – some of these documents are still being finalized and will be posted soon. For those who cannot make the webinars, or who would like to get a head start on scheduling meetings (highly recommended for the next break week starting November 11th) there are free training videos on their website.


CANADA COUNCIL SEEKS DIRECTOR AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

The Canada Council is looking for a Director and Chief Executive who can guide and mobilize the organization to successfully implement the objectives laid out in its 2011-2016 Strengthening Connections Strategic Plan.


BUSINESS FOR THE ARTS AWARDS $330,000 TO 32 ARTS AND CULTURE GROUPS

Following a jury process and a review of 41 applications, 32 organizations have been pre-approved for artsVest funding. In Regina, 10 applicants received pre-approval for their plans, in Saskatoon 11, and in the Districts 11. For a complete list of organizations, please visit the Business for the Arts website.


PAVED ARTS ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The PAVED Arts Board of Directors is excited to welcome Alexander Rogalski as their new Executive Director. Alex is returning to Saskatchewan from Toronto, where he has been active as a film programmer for both the Toronto International Film Festival and the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival. In addition, he is the founder of the One Take Super 8 Event which originated in Saskatchewan and has developed chapters across North America.


SASKBOOKS PRESENTS FALL 2013 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SEMINARS

SaskBooks offers a day of professional development for anyone working with books, ebook conversions, contracts, and rights agreements, on Friday, November 22 at the Willows Golf Course, Saskatoon.
